Letters — Your Best Friend

Umm...I figured I should do this too, since I'm running out of original ideas.haha

Dear Best friend,
Actually I don't have one. No, not because I'm emo, had a bad childhood and has trust issues.
It's actually because I've never been in the same place long enough to acquire a best friend. It doesn't mean I'm lonely though, I have made a lot of friends on the way.

Part of it has to do with the fact that my definition of a best friend is rather specific. A child has the precious ability to be loyal without judgement or thinking of self-gain. As we grow older, knowledge and maturity means that this ability dies. To me, a relationship with a best friend is similar to the way a child has a relationship with another trusted person.

But that doesn't mean I don't like my current friends! Quite the opposite. Perhaps with time, I will eventually get to know them as true best friends. So to anyone lucky enough to have a best friend, hold that friendship close to you. It is a rare and fine gift.
