The art of writing: The 36 dramatic situations
This is a concept that I've believed in: originality does not exist. New ideas are simply re-imaginings of what has been said before; one cannot know what the concept of "angel" is without first seeing a bird and a man.
This is interesting for people stuck on a storyline /hinthintAnita
In 1868, Georges Polti, wrote a book describing 36 basic situations that all climaxes boil down to-
(wikipedia source)
Each situation is stated; followed by the necessary elements for each situation.
1. Supplication
* a Persecutor; a Supplicant; a Power in authority, whose decision is doubtful.
2. Deliverance
* an Unfortunate; a Threatener; a Rescuer
3. Crime pursued by vengeance
* a Criminal; an Avenger
4. Vengeance taken for kin upon kin
* Guilty Kinsman; an Avenging Kinsman; remembrance of the Victim, a relative of both
5. Pursuit
* Punishment; a Fugitive
6. Disaster
* a Vanquished Power; a Victorious Enemy or a Messenger
7. Falling prey to cruelty/misfortune
* an Unfortunate; a Master or a Misfortune
8. Revolt
* a Tyrant; a Conspirator
9. Daring enterprise
* a Bold Leader; an Object; an Adversary
10. Abduction
* an Abductor; the Abducted; a Guardian
11. The enigma
* a Problem; an Interrogator; a Seeker
12. Obtaining
* (a Solicitor & an Adversary who is refusing) or (an Arbitrator & Opposing Parties)
13. Enmity of kin

I don't like
nasty comments on facebook. Whether or not it's directed to me ( which it's usually not). And whether or not it is aimless attention grabbing.
Amen
Happy hols Jo and Kath!
More art in the works :D

Art Challenge: Adopt a style
I'm getting old *cough* And I haven't done much to advance and update my skills this year, so I decided to do a bit of a -adopt a style- to investigate and understand the workings of great artists. I probably don't have the patience to copy it to similarly, but I will be taking inspiration
I had a list of who I was inspired by, but the internet recently fell into a hole. It's actually quite a common style...only it isn't obvious here cause I only took out a few bits.
It's style...I believe is called semi-realism (although that's not my definition). And it seems only exclusively applied to guys. Typically they have lower brows and a Asian-elvish feel to them. Usually they're in they're either game or fantasy themed, by the fantastic concept art that initially inspired them. I've also noticed that most of them tend to be err...topless or yaoi...and the artists that draw them tend to be female.haha
Detail and realism tends to be quite spectacular (really nice clothing design or lack of), especially the enormous fluffy wings that come as part of the package. The lighting is actually not traditional to this style...I just got carried away by something else.
Umm I still don't get guys. Not just the behavior but how they look. :/Eww I got the light source on the hand confused :/
Inspiration
onethis one wasn't good0 this artist tends to "mass produce" his works. I'm guessing he's a Chinese graphic's student strapped for cash :P
crap internet died again, there's more but...nvm

I DEMAND YOU ALL
-to blog like mad the coming holidays! You'd all better...don't want to to be bored and lonely ):
How hard is it?
lalala...facebook again.
It's funny, I never thought more of it other than reading other people's conversations, posting vaguely interesting statuses, checking whether you have comments or likes, updating profile pic and lately even, talking to people who I don't normally. Actually to think of it, that's incredibly entertaining. That last point is rather interesting , although I'm pretty sure we people with 80+ friends never even notice/chat of 75% of them.
That's sad actually, because the 75% in my list consist of old school friends. Would very much to check in on how they're doing, but it's a shame that at this age, it always runs the risk of being awkward...or stalkerish.
Perhaps I should be the one to start the conversation? Should I? Too bad I don't have seemingly bulletproof confidence or self-esteem.
Hehe that's why I like watching Nina's issues on Offspring >_>

meh
Nice to compare the genders- now that I think I'm sorta getting better at drawing guys too. Too lazy to draw anything below the shoulders. Don't get any ideas Jo. I reallyreally need to work on noses.
Umm why did I do it? I don't feel like studying. Even if the only thing I draw is old men in art classes, it has helped

Comic time :D
Full of Epic
Rant
This probably makes no sense to you but I need an outlet to release stress.
That little nooby advertisement on the corner of most webpages that reads "IMVU"
Well now you know what I spend most of my internet life on. Not facebook, not fanfiction, not random highly addcitive mmorpgs (maybe I do?)
For me, imvu has gone far beyond that lame 3D chat messenger with way too many desperate people too keen on online dating.
This website has given me one of the strongest senses of community after friends, family and school. The ability to create various forms of digital and 3D artwork for the community, with the community. For the 2 and half years I have seen and been part of what they call avatar picture editting and developing 3D flourish into something..rather remarkable, an art form in itself. It is absolutely the most amazing thing about this website- that fact that 99.9% of it is made by the community itself, with distinct style.
As well as wasting way too much time that should be using for exam study right now.
But it's all coming to an end. The bad boys of big business are coming. Eventually all the content creators will be replaced by the management's own. By then I'll be gone. By then it will be just another crap website controlled by money making individuals- who used to have a great concept-only to let it go in greedy pursuit of profit.
The saddest thing is that many influential developers have protested and left, hiding all their products. Brave, but useless. The management won't mind of course, they'll have replacements.
On the bright side, at least I'll be concentrating on err...healthier things.
Or I'll find an even more addictive obsession that's completely and utterly bizarre.

I'm watching you...damn spammers
Armed with IP addresses too.
Especially warning the one that's from Kuala Lumpur
It's a shame that they hide in large networks of related computers...
Edit:
OMG. In terms of Australian IPs, I track down the address, name, phone number and email of the person o__O...the only problem is, it's not very accurate.
I searched up Jo's IP and found:
person: Loris Minassian
address: earthwave
address: Level 9, 123 Epping Rd
address: North Ryde
address: Sydney NSW 2113
address: AUSTRALIA
country: AU
phone: +61-2-8875-7966
fax-no: +61-2-8875-7777
Now, had it been a coincidence that this guy has the same IP that Jo was using at the time, and if these details are right...THIS IS WAAAY TOO CREEPY.

Because you told me to
to blog more.
I do have things to say, but I've just temporarily forgetton then. French listening tomorrow-did some study but I'm doomed regardless. I'm trying to get my hands off gaming/developing/arting and anything time-consuming relating to the internet...because the truth is, I seriously can't last without my internet. I was planning to be productive and do all my history notes tonight- only that I left my history folder at school.
Oh crap, I realised I need to make a special something for a special someone...
The sunset today was very eerie, because of the cloud cover it seemed that the buildings were glowing all too brightly. My crap photography and very suss touch-ups:

Fallen Angels
Eww...what?
And it topped New York's bestseller's list in 2009?
And the cover! Looks like something an angsty teenager would have put up on their profile when Evanescence, Myspace, do-it-yourself black hair dye walked hand in hand 4-6 odd years ago.
I won't mention the name of the book here, if it isn't obvious enough to you. I refuse to get knocked over by a wave of crazy fans.
"It is about a young girl called Luce (full name Lucinda Price, Luce for short) who gets sent to "Sword and Cross" reform school. Here, she meets Daniel Grigori, who immediately she feels that she has met before. Luce then finds out she has met him before as they are destined to fall in love over and over again but their love will only end in grief, as Luce usually dies after being with Daniel."
I really hate to say it, but even a mediocre movie called "Hancock" beat you at that.
As much as I could figure out studying gothic literature in year 8, I didn't think this genre would ever experience another moment in pop culture. But hey, I didn't think that Lady Gaga would bring black shiny latex bodysuits back into fashion ether.
I thought that the music and movie industry had mostly been drawn and quartered by capitalism, and that the highly intellectual (or not) art of novel writing was safe from attack. I'm wrong. No wonder I haven't picked up a good book out of my own accord for ages .
Someone please save me?
Epilogue (plus other minor details I'll save you into reading)
1.Perhaps part of the reason why I don't read anymore is because I'm lazy, I admit that. I put enough effort into sussing out music that actually has talent.
2.I don't want to make that dress inspired by the cover of that damned book. Originality=ZERO. Ugly. Puts beautiful neo-victorian and related styles of clothing to shame. Nonono...hey it might actually get me a few good sales...I'm such a pushover...(imvu)
3.What a breakdown. Just as I was getting into the hang of not being anti-popculture anymore.
